The first project of the Foundation – the construction of a 16-stall Ultra-Modern W/C Washroom facility in two separate buildings at the Ejisu Roman Catholic School in Ghana – has been successfully completed.  The facilities were commissioned on March 22nd, 2024, and the students, teachers, and staff (approx. 1,000 people) have been using the facilities since March 25th, 2024.

We extend our sincerest thanks and appreciation to our donors and well-wishers for being instrumental in the above outcome.

The next phase of support is the operation and maintenance of the facilities.  AMAFF has agreed to bear the cost of operating and maintaining the washrooms for the foreseeable future, until the local authorities are able to financially do so.

 

Key expense areas are: 

  1. Toilet paper,
  2. Handwash lotion,
  3. Cleaning and Sanitation solutions,
  4. Electricity,
  5. Repairs and
  6. Salaries for a small staff.

From preliminary data collected, ongoing operation and maintenance costs are estimated at $15,000 – $20,000 for a 9-month school year, for the next several years.

AMAFF is also planning to embark on the next phase (Phase 2) of support for the school, in the very near future.  The proposed initiatives are:

  1. Completion of the existing fence wall to secure the washroom facilities and the school infrastructure.
  2. Improvement of the school and classroom infrastructure
  3. Library
  4. Computer Lab
  5. Science Lab
